Congratulations, Aunt Fretful! And I'm with Bardiac: the whole point of aunts, grandparents, and godparents is to give the child wholly inappropriate gifts that will drive the parents crazy!
Heya. I teach Shakespeare, British lit, and some other stuff. I am an associate professor at a small public university in the South, here known as Misnomer U; I spent a year in a visiting position at a private liberal-arts college that I call New SLAC. I hold degrees from the Beloved Alma Mater (undergrad) and the University of Basketball (grad). This blog contains teaching anecdotes, occasional posts about whatever I'm reading, and random thoughts.

Wow! Cute! I don't know if I've ever seen so much hair on a new blond baby.
Enjoy being an aunt!
Remember, get the loudest toys you can, and then give them to the kid just before you head back home. /nod Drum sets are extra bonus points!

Well, yes, or you COULD crochet/knit them very very very soft tiny tiny hats.
(What? Babies need hyperbole.)
Congratulations - he's gorgeous!
Well, I don't know how to knit or crochet, so drums it is...
Have you gotten the Carl books yet? Gotta get started on great literature early! (I love the art in the park one especially.)
I don't think I know the Carl books! I got him a copy of Hippos Go Berserk, though.
I don't know the Carl books either. Do tell, Bardiac!
You're in for a treat!
Here's a link: http://www.gooddogcarl.com/books.htm
The ones I recommend are the first (Good Dog, Carl) and the Afternoon in the Park one.
They're board books for babies, but they're note bored books for adults.
S/he's lovely!
What a nice holiday gift!
